Babies on the Brain

vent

If anyone else tells me that I'm "not getting any younger" or "you are never financially ready for a child" or tells me another story about their family member who waited to have their first baby and then had trouble, I am going to lose my mind.  I'm 28 (almost 29), not 58.  Yes, I am going to be an older first time mother, but that doesn't mean I won't be a good mom or anything.  I want to make sure we are financially stable before we have our first.  We will probably TTC in a year.  UGH... it really bothers me!  Sorry... I'm cranky today.

    I'm 28 and Hubs is 29. As

  • IMO, most people who use the "you're never financially ready for a child" line are just justifying why they are TTC when they can't realistically afford a baby.

My co-irker used to say this all.the.time. She started TTC right away after s

  • Eh. It's becoming very trendy to have kids later now. Late 20's through mid 30s is in no way an outrageous time to just be starting out. Opinions are like a$$holes, do whatever makes you and your SO happy.

Personally I am glad I waited till

  • My mom had me when she was 35 (total surprise since the doctors told she would never be able to have kids), so for someone to say that "you're not getting any younger" at 28 is ridiculous! There are people who have babies in their 40's. And you could be 2

  • My mom had me when she was 40, there's a 7 and 9 year gap between my sisters and I. Definitely not too old at 28 ;) (she said I keep her young :D )
  • The average age for American women having their first child is 25.

I think a lot of people would say DH and I were not financially ready to have a baby b/c we did not yet own our own home, had older cars, and have not yet finished college alt
