That's a great plan.  Both Hunt Valley and Towson are great areas directly north of the city (not sure where in PA your family is).  Another great neighborhood a little farther south, but still north of the city is Ruxton. Really beautiful ne

I am in Harford County! We live 10 minutes from the PA line. Both DH and I work in Baltimore, so out commute is about an hour or so depending on traffic. I grew up in Harford County as well, so I know the area pretty well. Feel free to ask me anything

My H's aunt and uncle live in Bel Air and we were just there for Easter. Very nice neighborhood and great schools. They keep trying to get us move down there! It's about hr and half south of Philly, right down 95.

OK great! Thank you all for your input, ideally we would like to keep DH's commute to a 30-40 minute commute one way considering he generally works until roughly 7PM.

Can anyone speak on Owings Mills? My family is in southeastern PA so not far, really. If we need to be 15-20 minutes out of the way to get more of what we are looking for we are ok with it.

Owings Mills is nice. I don't know much about that area since I rarely go over that way.

I live in Harford county and do the commute to Bmore City twice a week now that I have DS. Traffic and commute time all depends on when DH needs to be at work. If he has an early start time, then the commute isn't awful but if you need to be on 95 past 7

Another thing to consider is where in Baltimore your DH's office would be.  Because that will influence the commute.  Like if you rent an apartment in one area and his office ends up being on the complete opposite side of the city or outside the
