One of my grandma's was named Hazel. Pretty sure she never got called Hazelnut...ever. Kind of an odd nickname to worry about? It's not like a hazelnut is a bad thing...

I know it's on the rise. Both times I've been pregnant someone in my BMB had named a daughter Hazel. I personally don't see the appeal. To me it's like Gladys or Phyllis, old fashioned and not pretty at all.

Oh, he's not THAT worried about Hazel nut. : Whenever I bring up a name, his interest is in what the name means, which was what lead to the nickname talk.

I really, really dislike the rise in 'old-fashioned' names like this that are just...awful. It is a 'harsh' sounding name & there is nothing pleasing about it. If it's a family name then I'm all for using it as a MN, but other than that, no. It

I like it, but probably wouldn't use it myself. I don't think the nn thing is a big deal-I doubt many, if any, children would call her Hazel nut.

It's totally the MN we've chosen if we have a little girl, but it's DHs grandmother's name so it's familial to us. I've always loved it! What's wrong with the NN hazelnut?!? They're delicious!
