thumb sucker problem

Dd now has top and bottom teeth..the thing is she is a "devoted left thumb only" sucker and now she has a chapped and cracked and peeling thumb. I've tries to pop her other thumb into her mouth. Screams. I've tried to cover her little hand/hands with tight fitting socks. Ear shattering screams and many tears.what can I possibly do to give her thumb time to heal and keeping clean? She won't take a pacifire either. Any suggestions?

We have the same problem. My DD sucks her right thumb only and it cracked pretty good. I showed it to my Pedi and he gave us some prescription ointment to put on it because it looked like it might be getting infected.

My daughter is a thumb sucker also.  She has gotten a small chapped area on her hand from it and I've just put aquaphor on it at night before bed.  I'll start doing the lanolin though, that sounds like a better idea.
