Anyone dealt with a toddler UTI?

I am pretty sure DD has a UTI. She's been having accidents way more than usual over the last few days, and I did notice her grabbing her area a few times. She's also been holding her pee and then leaking a little bit then sitting in damp underwear. I've been trying to stay on top of her going potty more frequently, changing her clothes, etc. This afternoon things seem to have come to a head, with her crying and refusing to use the potty because it hurts. Her labia and urethra area are red, but it doesn't look like a diaper rash/yeast. All afternoon/evening I was pushing her to drink more water and I'm going to try to get her into pedi in the morning. I feel bad because she's in pain and can't or won't pee. Would you give LO Tylenol in the meantime?  She's so pitiful. No fever, luckily.

Re: Anyone dealt with a toddler UTI?

  • If she's hurting, I would give her tylenol.
  • Give her the drugs. DS had one around a year. Be warned, the antibiotics gave him horrible diarrhea. I had to take him back to get different ones. GL!
