First off, DS1 was ebf and hard terriable GERD and his main symptom was spitting. He would projectile spit from feed to feed and eventually because failure to thrive before the GI got serious about treatment. I don't think they believed us on how kuch he apit because he was gaining weight.Thankfully we avoided surgery and he still has reflux occasionally at age7 if he over eats or lies down too soon after a meal...he was a 36 weeker.
DS2...26 weeker now 14 weeks old...is having different sympotms but I am wondering if it could be reflux also. First, he started taking less at each feeding. Really straining and grunting after his bottle...I am an EPer. He burps well and often during a feed. Then, he started spiting a little shortly after his feeds. Now, I am noticing him choke and cough at times and throw his head back even cry a little. Occasionally he gets strangled but no spit comes out.
We don't see the pedi till Monday. I feel like he is getting enough to eat and keeping it down as his spitting is minimal and his dirties and wets are fine. Since I have 300 plus oz of BM in the deep freeze I am offering 60ml at least every thRee. Sometimes he eats less and wants to eat sooner so I let him. I am keeping him upright for at least 20 min after he eats. So far we aee not having trouble with his night feeds. He is sleeping in a small napper section of our PNP. I really like it because the head is elevated slightly.
I don't want to go the google route and worry myself hut I wondered if antone had experience with reflux that does not involve major spit? I feel like if he was not hurting he would eat better.
Thanks!
Re: Could this be reflux?
We were feeding every three. He was taking between 60 to 70 mL when we came home. After he started
My twins had reflux and almost never spit up. Their symptoms were crying and arching their back in the middle of a feeding. They would obviously be hungry and start off drinking well, and then all of a sudden start screaming and refusing the bottle (af
