Taking Preemies Out in Public

I've been reading the posts about when everyone is taking their preemies out in public and I'm wondering if this is because the cold/flu season or is there a certain age you'll take them out?  My two will likely come home in late May and I'm hopeful that we can take walks during the day, but I'm wondering if this is not an accurate expectation.  Obviously, I'll listen to whatever the doctor suggests, but I'm wondering what your reasons are??

  • LO came home in July.  The doctor said that anywhere outside was fine (as long as we took the heat into consideration).  He said no crowded places for the first 3 months.  By the time that was up we had about a month until cold/flu season.&

  • Mainly cold and flu concerns. My two came home last April and we started taking them on walks just weeks later - it wasn't just for them, but for my sanity, too! It was nice to get outside in nice weather. Even in the summer we weren't really comforta
  • most people are out at the beginning of April because it marks the unofficial end of cold/flu season in most areas.  My DD came home at the end of february last year and we really didnt start venturing out until the end of April.  B
