Thinking of switching to EP'ing -- Help share you experience . . .

I nursed DD#1 for a year and it is an experience I cherish.  I really wanted to nurse the twins for at least some period of time, but after only a week in I'm dying.  I remember feeling this way with DD#1 but I just don't know if I can do it again -- cracked nipples, torn nipples, latching issues, and the time.  I saw a lactation consultant and she was encouraging.

But, I'm considering going to EP'ing.  For those of you who did it, did you find it easier than nursing?  Just as time consuming?  Do you wish you'd stuck with nursing longer?

I'm really struggling and would love any insights.  Thanks!

  • With DD I gave up too quickly and EP'd until 8 months (when we found out that we were pregnant) and when DS I swore I'd keep him on the boob as I wanted that, I guess you could say, bonding time. Well he got sick at 3 weeks old and could barley breathe

  • Oh, I so wish I had continued EBF.  When DS was about 3 months I started to get vasospasms.  I found that pumping was less painful than BFing so I switched to EPing instead of taking meds to ease the spasms.  It was miserable....I spent

  • I just am hanging up my EP horns from the twins and having nursed my second son and EPd for my first son can say EPing is definitely harder with a singleton. I wish I didn't have so many weight and jaundice issues and could have more easily nursed my twin

  • I EP and have since my twins were born. We unfortunately had one in the NICU for 2 weeks and issues with latching. They are now 8 weeks old and I hate every minute of pumping, cleaning bottles and pump parts. I feel like I miss a lot of snuggling time

  • I BF from the time my girls got out of the nicu until about 3 months. (SO about 2 months)...I have triplets and my main reason for switching to EPing was the schedule. If two ate on the boob theyd eat 2-3 ounces, but the bottle fed baby would take more

  • I EPed starting at 3.5 weeks when breastfeeding was becoming freaking insanity for everyone in my household. In the first two months., I only had to supplement with 2-4 ounces of formula per day per baby, but now I'm at more than 50% formula. That being s

  • I EBFed my boys. It was incredibly hard in the beginning. We had a ton of problems and were at the LC at least twice a week. It was exhausting.

That said, I'm glad I pushed through that. All of a sudden everything clicked and nursing beca

  • I EPd when the boys were in the NICU and tried BF with shields when they came home.  Had the usual preemie feeding issues, but after two months of trying to BF (tandem, not tandem, with shields, without shields, with a LC sitting by me, different
