12 mo-so sick of chicken, what else?

I know my LO needs protein but it seems like he eats so much chicken?  What else do you moms make for lunch and dinner that has protein in it?

  • I make batches of turkey meatballs that have some veggies tossed in them as well. I freeze them and they defrost really quickly so it's easy to get his meals together.

  • LO eats lots of chicken and ground beef, and some tuna, ham etc.. Eggs are great too.. she loves scrambled eggs with cheese.

  • Turkey...sometimes just baked turkey breast...sometimes I use ground turkey and make meatballs.

    Hot dogs...try not to do it too often, but every now and then she has one for lunch

  • Recently I got turkey hotdogs from a brand called Applegate. They are organic and don't have too many nasties. I heated them up, peeled off the outer skin, and then cubed up the inner hotdog. I served it with tiny bits of fresh baked bread. Kind of like a

  • We buy frozen pre-cooked turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's.  DD absolutely LOVES them.  They heat up in a minute in the microwave.

    Other than that, I use leftover ground beef to make a quick quesadilla with some cheese and thawed green

  • I chop up turkey breasts into cubes and cook them on the stove.  I can put them in noodle casseroles or just with veggies and LO likes it!  I will also brown some ground beef and put it into macaroni.  You can also get proteins from peanut
  • Her proteins for lunch usually include peanut butter and a low-fat cheese. At dinner, she eats whatever we do.

  • By 12mo, protein sources for us were chicken, beef, salmon,  eggs, sunflower seed butter, almond meal, cheese/yogurt, beans, lentils, garbanzo beans in hummus).

  • DS loves string cheese, fish, and pork sausage!  I'm wary of additives in sausage so we use Wellshire brand organic maple pork breakfast sausage--DS eats it many mornings for breakfast!

  • Also lots of chicken, ground turkey, beans and eggs.  I'm not a red meat eater, but DH is so he will give her steak and hamburger on the occasions he has it.  She likes it all.
