what if ped says no tooth paste yet?

I asked my ped if i can use tooth paste yet.
They basically said not until 2.
I know several of you are using tooth paste.
He doesn't let me get his teeth very well even though I try two times a day.
I'm worried about plaque.
It's fluoride free.
Please don't flame me I'm just concerned for my child's dental health.
Should I just use it anyway?
I'd feel a lot better about his teeth if I used it....

Then just brush his teeth w/o toothpaste.  You have many years to worry about plaque.  I want to keep my son's teeth healthy and clean but the reality is these ones won't be around for very long and we'll have to be crazy dilligent when the p

If it's the only way he'll let you brush his teeth then yes I'd use it. We use baby toothpaste sometimes but not always. Dental health is still very important now even though they'll lose these teeth eventually.

Eli had his 15 month check up today and the Dr told me that the infant toothpaste was fine, but if not water was okay for now.

Our pedi said it wasn't an issue now, we just use a toothbrush and some water after bath time and in the morning. I am all for dental health but I am not really too worried about it yet.

Both my dentist and my ped said the toothpaste wasn't necessary closer to two. Right now, teeth brushing is more to get them used to the routine of it than to actually clean their teeth.

We just use water. I wouldn't worry so much. Just get into a good routine.

We use Earth's Best toothpaste for 6mo+. I don't see an issue with it. I wouldn't give her the normal stuff (crest, etc).

We used to use just water and Logan tolerated it.  Now we use fluoride-free infant tooth paste and he will let me brush forever!  He actually grabs the toothbrush (it's sitting on the side of the tub) and hand it to me when he sees the toothpast
