Need advice on temp

I'm heading up the search for a temp replacement for me while I'm on maternity leave.  My boss wants me to choose the people for her and I to meet with after reviewing their resumes.  Fine, nbd.  My issue is that my boss is....needy :)  She's awesome, don't get me wrong but a lot of what I do for her falls far outside the scope of what my job really is (lots of personal favors).  I personally don't mind because it evolved over time and she treats me well and respects me and respects my needs outside of work, etc.  Bottom line, it works for ME.

I don't know how or if I should broach this with a temp.  Temps obviously can leave their assignment at any time and I wouldn't want someone to get in here who is uncomfortable or unhappy with the needs my boss has and decide to leave over it but at the same time, my boss does really utilize me in a way that isn't consistent with how the rest of the company functions and I don't want to risk starting an issue about it.

    If you're writing the job description, could you include something about doing some personal assistant type tasks?

  • Do you think she will expect the same out of the temp?  If so, do you have a good enough relationship to discuss with your boss the "above and beyond" expectations that may be put on a temp?  If not, do you have the ability to do an onsite "work
  • I would be upfront in the interviews when you are meeting your top candidates. You want them to have the clearest picture possible of the job, and then you can gauge their reaction to see if it might be a problem.
