Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Feeling guilty but. . .

I am honestly getting tired of breastfeeding. I love my little girl so much but at first I HATED breastfeeding! My mom, who breastfed five daughters, was shocked that I stuck with it. Now I am to the point where I don't hate it but I don't love it. Part of me wants to continue because I know it's good for her and it's cheap but a lot of me would also like to put her on bottles when she is six months old. She is a very happy and healthy little girl and I want her to stay that way but I would like to be able to have my husband give her a bottle once in a while too. Yes, breastmilk is wonderful stuff but there are so many formula fed babies that are perfectly healthy as well. I don't know if I have a super "valid" reason to quit other than I would love to be done with it.  I am so torn, and I know that there are so many strong opinions about breastfeeding and I am not sure how to deal with drying up either. I personally don't think there is any "wrong" way to feed a baby but I am wondering that if I give it up now if I will wish I hadn't.

  • Have you pumped so your husband can feed her every once in a while?

  • I EP and have been feeling the same way lately.  My LO is almost 5 months old, but I am getting tired of pumping, finding time to pump and the hassle of carrying the pump to the office, etc.  However, I am going to stick to it until at least

  • I don't know how old your LO is, but breastfeeding for even 3 months is a pretty good accomplishment. I only made it 3 weeks before I had to stop.

If you have gotten past the point where you don't hate it anymore, and maybe even like it a litt

  • I made it 3 months and finally had to taper off. I wasn't producing much to begin with but I did everything I could.  I was pumping too which made me nuts because i felt like i was always attached to the machine. My LO is 6 months now.  I was so

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Regardless of breast fed or formula...babies are happy either way. I was unable to BF due to latching issues and my milk just not coming in. Believe me DS is completely happy and very healthy! I did pump for two weeks to give him all that goodness.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • I'm also so ready to be done with BFing.  I've started to wean DS to formula, but it's a long and slow process since he first wouldn't take a bottle, even when it was just pumped milk.  We've worked on that first, and then I've slowly started

  • I feel similar.  My plan has always been to go a year and I love the bonding, but sometimes I am just so tired of it.  Recently it has become a lot hoarder because we found out she has a milk protein allergy.  That means no milk for me. &nb

  • Do you hate it overall, or is it just certain feedings?  I found that for me I began to hate the last feeding of the day, so when DD was 13-14 months old we started giving her a sippy of milk before bed.  I didn't mind the morning or afternoon f
  • I could have written this exact same post. I'm tired of being the only one who can do night feedings. My DD only wants me to put her to sleep. I'm tired of pumping. I always worry about my supply.

My original goal was 6 months. I'm almost there.
