Anyone had a mammogram yet?

I am 37 and just started seeing a specialist a few months ago.  All my fertility tests came back good and he ordered a mammogram.  I don't have a family history so I was reluctant to get it done but I had it done last week. I thought you weren't supposed to have one until 40.  I received a call yesterday from their office saying I have a mass in my breast.  Great!  I go tomorrow for more testing.

I pray it's a benign mass but it kinda put a damper on TTC!  I just finished my first cycle of clomid too.  Just wondering if anyone else's dr had them have a mammogram under 40.

I did, but they wanted it as a baseline before I started TTC and got PG.

 

I hope your mass ends up to be no big deal!

My Dr. ordered my baseline at 35 with no family history. I guess all doctors are different. Hope everything turns out ok!

My Dr also suggested that I start this year with no family history, and I am 36.  I am also very reluctant about this.  I hope everything comes back okay for you.

I had a baseline at 35. Don't go back for another one until 40.

My doctor wanted me to get one at 35 just so I'd have a baseline. They saw something in one breast, and I had to go get another mammogram on that one. It was simply because there was nothing to compare it to, as it was the first mammogram. Do you get an appointment soon? The waiting would be hard. GL!

Thanks for the replies.  So it wasn't out of the norm to have one.   I have my appointment tomorrow for a mammogram compression and an ultrasound. 

I go in Friday for my clomid ultrasound and then I will probably take a trigger shot.  The thing that stinks is if it is something that has to be biopsied (which I won't know until next week) and I get pregnant, what happens???   

I guess I have to wait and see.  I'll give an update when I get my results!

Good luck today. 

My doc had me do one last year for a baseline.  I was 37 when I got it.  My sisters also had a baseline done between 35 & 40.

I had one at 34 because I had a mass. Turned out to be a cyst.

I had my first at 27 (due to med history) and have one every year as well as a breast MRI every year.

I had my first mammogram at age 34 because of what turned out to be a benign mass?excess tissue in my left breast. I have dense breasts but, to me, it wasn't that uncomfortable.

May of 2007 (after I turned 37) I had my baseline. I won't go back until I'm 40?Spring 2010.

I had my first one last year at 37 too. They found I had some small masses but they were benign. I think the test picks up everything and they just want to be sure all is OK. I'm sure your mass is benign too, good luck!
