G has a nasty virus. Fever and cough. I'm letting him watch tv because he feels too punky to do anything else. Poor baby. All he wants to watch is Cars. He watched it once yesterday and he's on his 2nd viewing today. This doesn't bother me. I figure it's just comforting to him when he feels so bad. It bothers my DH, though. We wouldn't have a tv if it was up to him. But, particularly he's concerned about G getting obsessed with one show. So, my question: would you let your kid watch the same movie again while sick or would you insist they watch something else? Is it normal for them to want to watch the same thing over and over? Just to be clear, I totally think it is. My DH is concerned that G may inherit his obsessive tendencies.
Re: TV Watching and sick kiddos ?
Totally normal for kiddos to watch a movie over and over. My sister and I used to watch the disney movies back to back viewings of the same show and we are normal.

Alexander has watched Wall-e almost every day for the past month.
All kids have their obsessions, and it's normal for a toddler to watch the same thing or read the same thing, or play with the same thing over and over.

G loves Wall-E, too, but he's in Cars mode lately.

When G first found out about Cars he watched it a million times over and over again. Same thing when he found out about Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Rio and Beauty and the Beast. I think its pretty normal. After the billionth ti
Not that you need anymore reassurance but I agree with everyone here and say it is totally normal.

I think it's totally normal for kids to be obsessed with the same show/movie sick or not.
I still can't stand ET because growing up we only had one tv and as the youngest my brother always "won" what to watch. He would virtually watch ET on re

i would let him but i do try to get him to watch something else but more for my sanity. if it's cars he wants, i try to switch it between cars 1 and 2 and the mater tales. blues clues is DS favorite show- especially when he's sick- so he watches t
Repetitive watching isn't limited to 2 year olds. I remember one year my sister getting the VHS copy of Lady and the Tramp (I want to say she was 4) and we had to watch the movie 5 times in 2 days. When I was little, I would watch the same
