Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Toys

My LO is 3.5 weeks. Should we be giving him toys yet? When do you introduce that kind of stuff, and for that matter, I don't even know what kind of toys to give him. So far we either talk to him or let him just look around when he's awake. He seems pretty content just gazing around.

  • I make attempts with toys every day, but he doesn't interact much yet. He does respond to music so his sea horse is nice. I also use the rattle toys to make a beat when we are listening to music. He did grab a rattle the other day, but I am assuming it

  • He's fine just gazing.  Let him be.  There will be years ahead for toys.  He's learning by just gazing.  If you want to go all out, playmats where the toys hang over them can be fun for them.  My first loved the playmat.

  • DS is nine weeks and still doesn't do much with toys. We have a Vtech bear that sings and lights up and he'll watch that for a few minutes.  But anything he has to manipulate himself like a rattle or something like that, he has yet to be able to do a
