June 2011 Moms

Easter

Today did not go as expected.  DH & I got guilted into traveling to see family over 2 1/2 hours away.  We say all four sets of grandparents in 2 days.  We visited each side less than 24 hours.  DH was a little disappointed because we are always on the go and traveling instead of enjoying and relaxing.  We left Friday afternoon around nap time.  When we got to MIL she had an egg hunt at her house for DS, with coins in the eggs.  Very nice surprise.  We got up Sat. and did an egg hunt.  DS loved it.  FIL got him a basket with an elmo book and doll.  We went to the zoo with them.  Left Sat to visit my family.  My mom was the one who begged us to come home to have a family gathering.  My siblings didn't show up till late morning.  We had to leave early afternoon.  We didn't take any Easter gifts with us since all we would do is transport them.  I thought my mom would've done something special since she was so gung ho on us coming.  Not a thing.  Which is okay, I don't expect presents.  But do something fun for DS.  We got up and went to my church growing up which was probably the best part of the day.  We will celebrate tomorrow morning with DS.  I guess the point of my post is that we are tired of traveling to celebrate holidays and always having to celebrate the day after with DS.

Re: Easter

  • Sorry that your Easter didn't go as well as you were expecting! I'd give some thought to how you'd like to handle holidays in the future.

  • Sorry you had a tiring holiday.  We travel to see one side at Thanksgiving, the other at Christmas and decided to host Easter so we have one holiday we get to stay home.  Our families are in opposite directions and we are about half way between

  • Reply.  We told our families that this past Christmas would be the last time to travel and see everybody.  We want to celebrate with our son.  It's not that we don't enjoy seeing and visiting with family.  I guess part of it is that

  • Sorry your Easter wasn't as great as you planned!
