Day 5 Fert Report

So three embryos made it to blast and biopsy and freeze today! We still have four more they are keeping in culture for one more day...to day 6. The lab left me a message while DH and I were at Easter festivities...any idea of whether this additional day is a good thing...? Anyone else have to wait to Day 6?

So we went from 11F to 9 on Day 3 to 3 snowbabies on Day 5 with a possibility of four more. What a whirlwind!

Freeze-All IVF#2: May 2013 ER 5/15. 31R, 21M, 20F. 6 5AA frozen blasts. Our PGD probe was completed in late June (total of 20 weeks to develop). PGD and PGS Results came on 6/19: 3 healthy embryos (normal chromosomes and unaffected by my family's genetic disorder). FET #1: July 2013 Natural Cycle - Cancelled due to insufficient lining (only got to 7.5mm). FET #1.2: August 2013 - Medicated Cycle with Lupron & Estrogen Patches to build up lining. Single embryo transfer was 8/23. Beta #1: 240! Beta #2: 578! U/S on 9/19 at 6w4d: We saw the heart beating at 131bpm. Second U/S on 10/4 at 8w5d: We saw the heart beating at 178bpm. EDD 5/11/2014

    They waited until day 6 with all my frosties, 2 made it to freeze, the third they said wouldn't make it.

    My lab doesn't freeze until day 6, so that sounds normal to me. It sounds like those they are watching aren't quite to blast yet? So probably just want to make sure they are strong embryos that can survive biopsy, freeze, and thaw before doing any more w

    I am happy, but now we have to weigh whether to do another cycle or test this group as it stands. Any advice on what you would do, Purple? Knowing that the odds are that only 23 will be healthy?

    One more thought. . . I would also find out the embryo grades of any frozen before making your decision. Is your lab vitrifying the embryos? Basically, talk with your doctor and embryologist about the predicted thaw and success rates of the embryos, assum

    I think it would be fine to wait for day 6, I've definitely heard it happening.  3 is great to start with and you could still get another 4!  Great news.

    Those look like some pretty good numbers! I've followed the thread...I think I'm inclined to agree with Purple...if you're not opposed to "extra" embryos and you're covered for another fresh cycle, I might go that route to give you the best odds at embies

    Cancelled mid-cycle due to high P4 levels early on.
    OCPs again for IVF 2.5 mid-March. IVF 2.5 transferred two "gorgeous" 5-day blasts and BFFN. Even REI is baffled
    On indefinite hold until a huge stroke of serendipity led me to IVF 3 May 2014
    Testing found positive cardiolipins/APS, now on lovenox and intralipid infusions
    Transfer of 2 5-day blasts and (FINALLY) BFFP!! 1st ultrasound shows two sacs and two HB, but one is sluggish, almost expecting vanishing twin Subsequent ultrasound confirmed vanishing twin, but my other Little critter looks fantastic!

    I have also been following the thread as well, and if I were in your position I would do another fresh cycle just to have an increased am

    Me: 32 H: 31
    DX: MFI-Very Low Count, I have Hashimotos.
    IVF prep September 2013 cancelled due to Ovarian Cyst
    IVF #1 October 2013 Antagonistic Protocol with ICSI  ER 10/31/13 (18R 16M 11F- 6 blasts to freeze)
    ET delayed due to OHSS 
    FET scheduled for July 8. Delayed due to a crazy high TSH (it had been under control for YEARS!)
    FET #1 8/5/14 sET BFN

    Thanks, everyone, for your feedback. I'm anxious to see how our remaining four wind up tomorrow. :) Thanks for all the support and ideas. DH and I plan to have a good talk tomorrow and follow that with a phone consult with our RE on Tuesday morning. :)

    I hope you get more embryos frozen today.  We had 6 of 7 frozen- 3 frozen on day 5 and 3 frozen on day 6.  Wow, I didn't realize that you have to pay each time you do the testing after you already paid for the probe.  Good luck today!!

    Married June 2011 Dx: anovulatory due to prolactinoma (1.5cmx 1.5cm in 2006)
    April 2012: MRI- questionable cyst 8mg by 12mm in pituitary ; referred to RE by Ob-gyn after amenorrhea x 4+ months, provera ineffective, low estrogen level
    cycle 1: May 2012, clomid 50mg; cycle cancelled, thin lining, no response
    cycle 2: June 2012, femara 5mg; cycle cancelled, no response
    cycle 3: July 2012, femara 7.5mg; cycle cancelled (largest folli on Cd12 & cd 16: 11, lining 4)
    Repeat MRI July 25,2012- Cyst unchanged, likely old infarction.
    Aug. 8: met with RE, move to injectables if HSG and SA normal
    Aug. 23: HSG all clear; DH- perfect
    Switched to a new RE in early Sept. IVF here we come
    Genetic testing reveals: Fragile X- Intermediate risk/grey zone.
    IVF#1: ER 11/30: 14 retrieved, 10 mature, 7 fertilized. E2 prior to trigger 5200. Decision made to freeze 6 embryos and transfer later due to OHSS.
    IVF#1.2/FET #1: estrogen injects start 1/18, FET delayed to try to thicken lining. lining 5.4mm. FET- 2/18- transferred one 3AA expanded blast. BFP 5dp5dt. Beta #1- 2/27 9dp5dt- 102.27 beta #2 3/1: 147 :(, beta #3 3/4: 268 told to stop meds and let nature take its course. requested 4th beta (3/6); Beta hell for 2 months.

    FET # 2: endometrial scratch 5/6, added estrace vaginally and ASA to delestrogen and PIO. June 10- transferred one 4AA hatched embryo, BFP 4dp6dt, Beta 1 (9dp6dt) 187, Beta 2 (11dp6dt): 412; Beta 3 (15dp6dt ): 4452. U/S #1- one beautiful embryo with a heartbeat of 133 at 7 weeks.  8 weeks: heartbeat 156. EDD 2/26/2014: born 2-3-14 induced due to Pre-E and HELLP at 36w5d.

    12/1: met with RE to discuss trying for #2
