I don't know if this is common knowledge or not but it was news to me. There is a website that you can look up violations at daycare's in MN. The website can be found at https://licensinglookup.dhs.state.mn.us. (Sorry, I don't know how to make it clicky).
I wish I had found this when I was first researching daycare options. It turns out we really lucked out with our final choice. Our first choice daycare (which we decided against at the last minute due to finding a lower cost option closer to home) had some big violations this past couple years. One of them for leaving children unattended (once for as long as 20 minutes!).
I wish I had known this existed earlier. It would have saved me so much time to have had access to this information at the beginning of my search. I hope someone else finds it useful. I would encourage any new Mom's/Dad's looking for daycare to check it out. Atleast it offers a better opportunity to know what you're signing up for.
