I don't know if you are having any cracking or bleeding, but I was told (by my lactation consultant) to put a fine layer of neosporin on under the lanolin to help with healing.  Apparently you don't need to wash it off before feedings.  It helpe

I am pretty sure my left nip hurt more than any injury or major surgery I have ever sustained. Hang in there, it gets better quickly! And yes, lanolin is my best friend!

I'm on day 3 with baby 3, and my nipples are actually fine. They hurt during the initial latch, but that's it. I'm thinking it must just get easier each time. The Soothies gel pads are awesome for nipple pain. I used those in the past and needed very litt
