Cloth Diapering

One-size options?

So, DH is still skeptical about cloth diapering. Pretty much my strongest argument with him is the fact that investing in a stash once will be way more cost effective than buying disposables over time. For that reason, I think my best bet at getting him on board is sticking with one-size options. We'll use disposables for the newborn phase until baby fits in the OS diapers.

I registered for a bunch of BG 4.0s and received about 10 of them from my baby showers. I also bought a couple other pocket diapers from an off-brand I've never heard of, and I also bought a FuzziBuns off Zulily today. What other options do I have that will take baby from infancy to potty training? With prefolds you still have to buy sized covers, right? Any other one-size options I'm not thinking of, or should I just hope for the best with the stash we've started and build it out based on which brands seem to fit baby best? I know different options work for different babies, so I'm afraid if what we have ends up leaking or not fitting right or being too much work for DH, he'll throw in the towel and we'll be back to disposables.

I'm thinking of doing a trial from Jillian's Drawers too, but I know they send you a variety of styles, including fitted. I just can't see getting DH on board with having to buy different sizes, as that defeats a lot of the purpose of saving money with one stash.

  • The trial may be a good idea, just because like you said each brand fits different babies differently. So the trial will help you figure out what works best for your baby. A lot of ladies use fitteds as an overnight solution, usually with a wool cover. I'

  • How bout Charlie Banana? They have OS and fitted sizes. I like the way they are made. I have been getting them at Target and on EBay for less. And I orered some Fuzzibuns on EBay, waiting to receive them . I'm new to CD trying to figure out what I need to

  • Have you thought about getting Kawaii pure and natural? They fit 6lbs-22lbs and everyone swears by them.  Even if you went with regular NB cloth diapers it would still be cheaper than buying disposables because they only get used for a couple months

  • Flats and covers are the most economical option. Prefolds and covers are next in line cost wise. AIO and pocket diapers are more expensive, but they are convenient and easier to use. Show your husband the cloth diaper calculator on Thirsties website.

  • I would suggest flip diapers. They're also great for the diaper bag! (less bulk) You can use the covers multiple times and just switch out inserts!

  • I highly recommend Alvas. With any diaper, you should try one or two before committing in case it's wrong for your LO's body type, but they fit my son great and are a quarter the cost of several other OS diapers I tried. We have two dozen, which cost 125,

  • I'm soon to be FTM, so I don't have experience using them, but SoftBums Echon and Omni were suggested to me by the women who owns a great cloth diapering store. They fit 6lbs to 35 lbs I believe. She says it is her favorite cloth diaper.
