Hello ![]()
How many of you avoided the following? If not, why? I know I am going to avoid the bad stuff (alcohol, tanning, nicotine etc.) but what about the questionable things like nail polish?
Caffeine? I am currently avoiding - would like to have some on occasion.
Hair dye? Undecided - I think I will, maybe twice during the pregnanacy in a well ventilated salon?
Manis/Pedis/Shellac Mani? I don't usually get these, but would like to get one in a couple weeks. If it's safer, I'll just do my nails at home like I usually do.
Soft Cheeses/Lunch Meat? I am a vegetarian, so I am good with the meat, and I'll give up the soft cheese, it just seems weird. No problems with that though.
Medicine? I just had a mini freakout over Visine - I haven't taken anything else, but would like some eye drops that are safe this allergy season!
I don't even know what else we are supposed to avoid yet
Feel free to add anything.
Re: What have you avoided since your BFP?

To quote one of our fellow bumpies I'm pretty "crunchy" to begin with so most of the adjustments aren't too bad for me. I d
I am not cutting down on caffeine at all, though I have always been just a one cup a day person anyways so no biggie. I am cutting out all hair dye. I did a lot of research and though I believe it is safe, I could not get the one study out of my mind t

Didn't drink before, avoided caffeine before, don't do drugs... so all that was easy breezy!
But.. my hair is looking pretty haggard and I'm not still risking being around all those fumes.
I like painting my nails and now I'm weary-- though
Caffeine? Avoiding. Went cold turkey a few weeks ago in preparation.
Hair dye? Probably not. Will probably get hair done once or twice.
Manis/Pedis/Shellac Mani? Unsure. Nothing beats a good foot massage!
Soft
Caffeine? Had a cup this morning. I plan on having one small cup in the morning. I quit all diet sodas last year and never looked back. I'd say the aspartame is worse for baby than a the caffeine.
Hair dye? Don't dye my hair.
Wait, what? Mani/pedis? Your body isn't absorbing the nail polish, so why would this be bad for you?
I quit drinking, smoking (it's about freakin' time) and caffeine cold turkey.
I am eating feta tonight, but
I didn't drink, smoke or do drugs before my BFP so that was easy!
Caffeine? I'm down to one coffee a day, and an occasional diet coke.
Hair dye? I haven't dyed my hair in like 4 years so no problems there.

Meds? I try not to, tylenol if i have to
Soft cheese? There are some soft cheeses that are made pasterized, so just those</
Disagree. I think it's really nice that there are mommies to be who are willing to give up some of their superficial luxuries for the baby even before they are born. Sacrifice is something we all better g
Caffeine?I have a decaf latte every morning, its less than 200mg of caffeine, which is the suggested daily limit during pregnancy.

Some of you have NO clue what you're actually eating or drinking or using for beauty products, do you?
You don't need to avoid hair dye or manicures as long as they're done in a well-ventilated area.
You sure as heck don't need to stop eat
I use my ob's list of approved medications and am waiting until 2nd tri to start Claritin for my seasonal allergies per
