help! bedshare weaning

We aren't super crazy about bedsharing.  It started when DD had the stomach flu at 3.5 months and choked on her vomit in the night.  Needless to say, I got super paranoid, so I had her sleep (and throw up...) in our bed for the remainder of the bug.

And now, it is a problem.  She used to be so easy to put down for sleep.  Put her in the crib awake with her pacifier, and she's out.  Not the case anymore.  She pulls out the pacifier and screams.  After the past few MOTN feedings I tried putting her in her pnp, which is right next to our bed, and she cried no matter what I tried to do to soothe her.  I didn't know what to do, so I just put her back in our bed and she started making her happy sleep noises and went right to sleep.

This is extremely typical, I am sure, to have LO really like bedsharing.  We don't mind it right now, but don't want it to go on forever, and I realize that the longer we let it go on, the harder it will be to break.  So.... advice?  TIA!

  • I agree that there are certain developmental windows during which it might be easier to move your DD into her own bed, when you are ready.

I think it would make the least sense to try and work on sleep independence at times when there are other d
