how does your garden grow?

I plan to start a vegetable and fruit garden this spring. I live in the city, but have a decent sized yard. However, I don't have much of a green thumb... Any helpful websites or tips for recommending what how and when to grow in MN?!

  • Don't want to the alarmist here but my one precaution for you is to have your soil tested for lead/Pb at your city's health department or look up an environmental testing lab in the city.  It's shocking how persistent lead is from the days of lead

  • Can you use color printed paper, like circulars from the grocery store?  They don't have that slick, shiny coating, but the print is in color.  I get tons of junk mail that I throw in the recycle bin, but if I can use any of it for mulch instead
