VBAC

Question

Anyone have a vbac 1011 months after their csection? Any complications?

My son was 8 weeks early and I got pregnant again when he was 3 months. I probably won't make it to my due date.

Re: Question

  • No experience here, but most doctors are leery about VBACing within a year of a CS. Some won't even consider it unless the deliveries are 18+ months apart.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • There's a general standard of 18 months between deliveries, but I have heard of many finding support for a VBAC less than that. I'd check out some OBs and see what you find.

  • My doctor will not even attempt it if there is not 18 mo between deliveries. Check with your doctor! It may also depend on how healed up you are. I think they can check the scar via ultrasound.

  • My midwife said they're comfortable doing them after 10 months. She is also in a practice with a maternal fetal medicine specialist though. He's been referred to as "a midwife in disguise."

  • My OB said we could proceed with a vbac as my birth plan. I'm just curious if anyone else out there went through it so soon after a c section.
