Any Advice for overactive letdown?

I don't know what is going on. I nursed my three boys so easily and without incident. It appears with my little lady I have some sort of "super boob" where my letdown is very intense and I spray milk very forcefully. Poor thing chokes, pulls away, and by the time my milk settles down she is so full of gas that if I don't get a burp out of her, it all comes up and we start the whole process again.  Any successful strategies you ladies would like to share would be greatly appreciated!

  • I had the same problem.  Start nursing in a reclining position, so the milk isn't spraying right down her throat.  It's a bit messy, she'll probably just let a lot of milk dribble right out of her mouth, so I recommend a burp cloth for under

Reclining while nursing helps. Also, when your letdown happens, unlatch LO and let the spray go into a burp cloth. R

The football hold is quite helpful, in combination with the reclined position.  I basically let Luke sit up when I nurse him on my right side.  He has a pillow behind him to help steady his head.

    Good luck!
