Apartment - 2 dogs and 1 kid

I'm getting a divorce and I'm finally moving out...into an apartment. At least it's my own and I have all my kids in one place with me. My kids being a one year old boy and two large dogs. Does anyone have any experience living in an apartment with a toddler and dogs? I'm not quite sure how the going outside to potty thing works with a baby.

  • Can you get a ground level apartment? Either way you will make it work but I think that will make it easier.

Prior to having kids I always lived in upper floor apartments.  We were still in an apartment when I had my first kid and it was a huge PITA to have

  • Get a ground floor and then take your dogs out before kiddo wakes and after he goes down to start. For post work potty time, bring your kid with you, or let the dogs out before going to daycare.

You'll also need to consider exercise for the d

What kind of dogs? Smaller dogs are obviously going to be a bit easier to handle than a large dog. Also remember,

  • If you give the dogs enough exercise, space doesn't matter. I also strongly feel that a big yard alone isn't good enough. Dogs just don't run enough to burn off energy. They've got to walk, or be directly played with. In our area, apartments are half the

  • We've lived in a condo with two dogs since before DS was born. When DS was little, we either wore him or carried him. Now that he's big enough to walk, he walks with us. I usually walk my dogs separately, which adds a bit of time but makes them easier

  • Ok, I have two kids, 17 months and 6 months. And one large dog. I am married but my husband works a lot of erratic hours and is often gone all together, so dog duty is on me often. We live in a townhouse and have a backyard.

  • Assuming you've already found said apartment that allows two large dogs I have one word for you.  Stroller.

ETA: If you haven't found an apartment yet, you may have a hard time as PPs have said.  A few years ago I had not only 2 large

  • I would look at getting a condo one that has a small fenced yard.

My GF has a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath condo that has a nice patiod fenced backyard that she pays 800.00 for. It wasn't listed in any apartment guides she happened to see an add in the

  • I would try and rent a house if I were you. Try and find a fenced in back yard if you can. When DD was born we lived in an apt and had our dog. It was kinda a PITA to take the dog on a walk several times a day to go to the bathroom ( I am not talking abou
