Moms that had or have GD for a second time

I am on my third pregnancy. I did NOT have GD with first and DID have GD with the second (diet controlled). This pregnancy I was test at 12 weeks for GD and passed the blood test. However I will not be tested again until 28 weeks like every other pregnant woman. I am concerned that, that is a large span of time for GD to onset. Is this the norm for other moms? I am thinking about asking to be tested again at 20 weeks (I am 16 now) and then again at 28 weeks. What do you all think? I know its not a guarantee that I will have GD again but I do feel like its a VERY strong chance since I am 10pounds heavier starting out this pregnancy then I was the last. Thanks Ladies!

I had GD twice. Diagnosed at 28 weeks with #1. With #2 I failed the 1hr at 11 weeks and 3hr at 13 weeks. All of my initial tests were the standard GTT (drink the glucose solution and draw blood at set times). During my second pregnancy they drew A1Cs e

Do you have any test supplies left or could you just go buy strips to test and see what your blood sugar levels are?

Yep, definitely ask for a drink test.  My A1Cs have all been in the 4.3-4.5 range which is pretty good, but I totally bombed the OGTT- miserably!  Good luck, I hope you don't have it!

I tested a few times a week at random starting from 14 weeks on... my blood sugars post meals were normal and my fastings were well under. I ended up failing my 2 hour GTT (was at the threshold for fasting, failed the 1 hour, passed the 2 hour by like 50

So now I am kinda freaked out. Like what if at 12 weeks I did have gd and because my doctor didn't accurately test me for the last month I have been having awful sugar numbers. The whole reason they say this disease doesn't cause birth defects is because

I had a bit of a freak out about the possibility of birth defects with DD2. Due to the endo I was supposed to see quitting the practice literally minutes before my appt, I had high fasting numbers - 110s and even a few in the 120s - from 11 weeks until 18
