Has anyone's LO had strep?

Last night DS was acting pretty crabby in the evening but I thought it was because of the 4 teeth that have popped through his gums. He woke up a couple hours after going to bed and had a fever.  We were up every hour last night, so took him to the doc this morning and he has strep throat, plus she said he had a virus of some sort based on his green runny nose and some sores on his throat (which she said were different than what she sees with strep).  So we're on antibiotics now for the strep.  He had a tough day:(  Got a little better tonight before bed.  Hope he sleeps well. 

Anyone's LO had strep around this age and if so, how long did he/she take to recover? We are supposed to be flying out of state on Thursday for vacation...so hoping he is feeling better by then.  Poor baby - 4 teeth + strep + virus!

DS2 had it twice...once around 10 months and again at 11 months.  He was back to his normal self after about 24 hours on the antibiotic.

Did they actually swab him for strep and it was positive? Or just look and say strep? Because strep throat is EXCEEDINGLY rare under 2 years old. More likely he has a viral illness causing everything, including the redness and sores in his throat. Just li
