Taking LO to a party need advice

The women at my church have been amazing... Cooking us meals, running to the store for us and now they are throwing a shower for me this Friday. My LO is 3 weeks old today and of course I am guessing they are expecting her to come. I'm very nervous about everyone wanting to hold her and pass her around. I know I could just ask that they not touch her, but that's so awkward and I don't want to come off rude after all they have done for me. Anyone have ideas on a less awkward way to get people to not touch and pass her around? I'm also not very confrontational so I get shy in situations like this....

  • I had a shower a few weeks after DD was born as well. Most of the women there are also moms and understand that she's too little to be passed around. A few people held her, after washing their hands.

  • You could try putting her in a sling if you have one? When DD is in the sling, whether she's awake or asleep it seems to get the message across that I don't want people holding her and they usually don't even ask.

  • I agree, just be honest with everyone. They will understand. Trust me being a little uncomfortable telling people is better than LO getting sick. I say this after spending the weekend in the hospital for my 4 week old infant who caught daddy's cold last w
