Mesh feeder meltdown

I was so excited to get Miss C a mesh feeder.  I figured it had all of the elements she looks for:  something to chew on, food, and being soothing on her gums.  Man, was I  wrong.  Every time I offer it to her, she just gets angry that she's not getting "real" food.  I've tried doing it at every possible point in her feeding process (before, during, a little after, a lot after), thinking I was irritating her because she was hungry.  Nope.  Nothing works.  Is there a way to make it appealing to her or is it one of those things she's either going to love or hate?

I've been trying the mesh feeder as well the past few days, and Ds doesn't seem to like it (we've tried it with peaches, one of his favs with no luck). I'm curious to see what everyone else says.

I always just put ice in it so he doesn't really expect anything else from it. Both of my boys loved this for teething and fevers...

V loves it. She also loves to chew on everything. I guess it depends on the baby. I've put bananas fresh and frozen. Frozen cubes of breast milk and sweet potatoes. Oranges, she loves oranges.

Yep, if I get it going for her it helps. Try musher fruits too, like pears.

Some babies just hate the texture these have. R hates them.

My DS loves a good mushy pear in there.

Gio hates it too. He'd rather have a spoon. I've just accepted that he hates it and now it's sitting in the drawer. I'll try in a few weeks.

I put some frozen peaches in there today and pushed them through a bit. She got really excited when she could taste it. Then she just sucked on them until they were mushy. After that, I took them out and she ate them. I call that success!

The mesh feeder saves us when we are out for dinner. We attach it to the high chair, and he spends the whole meal eating from it. We just refill it every once in a while.
