Cloth Diapering

newborn sizing

Hi ladies. This probably gets asked a lot, so I apologize if it is redundant. I am planning on using prefolds for the baby at least during the newborn stage. I have found (what seem like) good deals from this one website. This one comes with 3 dozen osocozy prefolds, infant size, and 4 Thirsties Duo Covers, size 1. Does that sound reasonable for a newborn? And do you know how long they would last? It says from 7-15 pounds and I really have no idea how quickly infants gain weight. Then this package comes with 4 dozen osocozy infant prefolds and 6 small bummis wraps. Do you think one is better than the other?

Also, are prefolds okay for nighttime or should I add another kind to my stash for nights? I am also unsure of what kind of diapers I'd use when the baby outgrows these prefolds. Does sticking with prefolds make the most sense or could I switch to a more convenient one-size option when the baby is older?

 Thanks so much for reading!

  • I like osocozy too, but we didn't start using them until about 6 weeks.  Option number one seems OK.  Option number two I wouldn't do just because 4 dozen is a lot of prefolds for one stage.  We went through about 12-15 a day but washed

  • Thank you for your help ladies. One more question...should I make the investment in newborn prefolds? Or can I make the infant ones work on a newborn?
