Okay ladies, my little girl is 5 months old and still very far from sleeping through the night. It seems that she is getting more difficult to get to sleep at night. I am not interested in letting her cry it out. I have always had a hard time with the idea and the other night thought well lets give this a try. After letting her cry for 10 min and going in it was clear that she was not keen on it either. She got more upset with us trying to soothe her without picking her up and both my husband and I felt horrible about it.
I am ok with cuddling her feeding her or whatever to put her to sleep however my hope was that after doing this she would eventually sleep longer periods which she doesnt. Bed time is not a fun time in our house. My husband figures we should just let her sleep with us. this is the easier thing for him, I however know that it will be difficult to get her to sleep in her own bed later and also I realize that she is not really sleeping longer she just is a lot closer to the breast so doesnt make as much noise when she wakes. I on the other had dont get much rest and am trying to sleep with my boobs hanging out all night.
I am really not sure where to go from here. All I know is that at this point it takes over 2 hours to get her down at night, and she is still up every 2-3 hours. I have been encouraged by the health nurse to continue to feed on demand also.
HELP
