Kielbasa/hot dogs

So I know that we aren't supposed to eat hot dogs, but what about kielbasa? I feel like they are similar products which means that I can't eat it either. Anyone know?

Hot dogs are fine as long as they're thoroughly cooked.

I eat hot dogs.  I also eat deli meat.  Both doctor approved.  I have a very healthy 1 year old DS and so far, this baby is doing well too.  Enjoy your Kielbasa!

Thanks everyone. I heard hot dogs still weren't safe even if they are cooked because of nitrates or something.

My doc said hot dogs and lunch meats had to be heated until steaming, which I probably think applies to the kielbasa as well. Enjoy!

Hot dogs aren't exactly healthy but as long as they are heated properly ENJOY! I plan on having at least one at Orioles opening Day in 2 weeks.

I guess I will be having a little hot dog and kielbasa today :. Both will be cooked in a crockpot all day, so they will be throughly cooked!

Nitrates aren't really that great, pregnancy or not (but I can't remember why). I buy the nitrate free hotdogs so no problems there as long as it gets cooked. I had some kielbasa last week, and it wasn't nitrate free, but I only had one serving anyway. As

nitrates are in almost every type of processed meat unless you specifically buy a brand without it. it's a preservative. hot dogs, bacon, lunch meat, corned beef, spam, precooked spiral ham, etc. all have it. bet chicken nuggets and the likes have it too

If anyone is interested, check out the vegetarian (Tofurkey brand) kielbasa. Delicious.
