Burping

My DD is now 11 weeks and I have always had a hard time getting her to burp. During the day I don't really worry as much if she does not burp... but a night I worry the most because I don't want her sleep being interrupted by gas pains. I can usually get her to burp during the day( though it takes like a good 30-40mins sometimes less ) but at night I find it extremely difficult to get her to burp. Sometimes I get one but most times never. Does any one else seem to have this problem with there LO?

  • Yep, only DS pretty much stopped burping regularly around 2 weeks, day or night! Our pediatrician said to keep h upright for 1520 minutes before laying him back down and then he should be ok. Sure does make for a long feeding in the middle of the night! I
  • I second all of the pp suggestions. The small circles on the lower back, I also have a lot of luck just holding up Mr. C (facing me) for about 5 min, after I've burped him and he'll often burp on his own.
  • I don't worry about burping at night. If she has a bubble she'll let me know by fussing.

  • My LO is good at burping, but sometimes the normal back-patting doesn't quite do it, so I found leaning over one of my legs (my hand still supporting his chest) can get him to burp-must be the changing position.
