Parenting after a Loss

7 month old waking up crying at night

DD has been waking up crying on average once a night for the past month. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old and dropped her 4am feeding since about 3 months. Just recently about 6 months old, she wakes up once a night crying sometimes hysterically. I pick her up and rock her and she is out in 10 min, but I thought by now if it was a phase or growth spurt it would have subsided by now. I didn't think of asking the pediatrician at her last appt sine it just started. I don't know if she is having a night terror, separation anxiety, or what!? There is probably one or two nights a week that she doesn't wake up crying but it's pretty much every night and all different times. Anyone else LO go through this at this age? Thanks!

Re: 7 month old waking up crying at night

  • It could be teething pain?  DS has been going through short phases of this.. like 2 weeks where's he's up crying once a night.. and then he'll be fine, and then a few weeks later it starts again, etc.

DS has had one night terror that

  • If it's about 2.5 hours after she goes down, then I'd think night terrors.  There's not a lot you can do for them, but if those are the case, waking her up at the 2 hour mark nightly seems to do the trick.  You basically retrain her brain. &n
