I'm a SAHM, but a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to work a temporary job for 4 days in a row (6 hours per day). I really enjoyed the work - and the adult interaction - and have been asked to work another 4 day event coming up in the next couple of weeks! But here is my issue...

Koa has been EBF since day one. I tried to get him to take milk from different types of bottles/nipples and sippy cups but he only chews on the nipples. So, I thought that maybe he would take it from my mom while I was working. Nope. Each of those 4 days he only had 1-3 oz (momentary sucking and then chewing) of BM in a 7 hour span! He did eat extra fruit & veggie purees, though.

So, do I decline the work (which would be about $450 that we could definitely use right now) and wait until Koa either becomes more proficient on a bottle/sippy or until he is nursing less? Or do I take the job and hope that if he is hungry enough, he will actually drink the milk instead of chewing?

Can he be spoon fed the milk? This is the only way my LO will take breastmilk because he also just chews on bottle

I would work. He's going to have to get used to the bottle eventually, so no better time than the present.

Thanks ladies! DH feels that I should be able to go out and work a few days here and there also. I have been giving Koa a sippy cup of water with each meal, but it does have a soft spout. I have a couple with the harder ones...I'll try that for the next f
