One & Done: Only child

OAD- due to DH....anyone?

I am pretty much ready to be OAD...like everyone I can cite time, money, attention to the child etc...

However a bigger factor is DH....our marriage barely survived his lack of patience in the first year of DD's life. I grew up in a divorced home...and its impact led me to take us to counseling and work it out that way.

And it's helped some...but of course today he lost his temper w/ the yelling. I had been thinking..."we're doing good..." and then BAM....bad daddy's back for an encore performance. We're due for a "so...wtf happened to you this morning" talk.

I'd like to say for 90% of the time he's a good dad...but that 10% of the time is a real doozy...am I alone? Anyone....OAD due to DH (in addition to our other valid financial, career, age, health reasons).

  • I'm sorry you have to deal with that :(

I can't relate, because my husband is a super great father. He doesn't have patience/yelling issues with our daughter, but WE had these issues with each other for about the first 9 months of her life. &nbsp

  • I'm there with you. I can relate. DH said he was OAD before we even had DS.He thought PG was too stressful. Add to that that DS was born early and now has PT and helmet appointments added on, and I think it just reaffirms DH's decision in his mind

  • We're only halfway to having our one, and it is very likely we will be OAD. DH is 40. I'm quite a bit younger, but I don't I'm up for two.

I just want to say I am sorry your H is acting that way but men tend to react differently to baby then women. I don't know how old your DD is but DH and I had a rough go of it the first 4 months and I think that is totally normal. Nothing can truly pre
