Help - childproofing

Since we're actually talking about parenting today: 

I need a childproof lock for a swing door handle like this at my mom's.  J was able to open the door at the pedi this week, and I need a lock for my mom's upstairs door:

Will one of these work?  I've never had to childproof one of these kind of handles.

We have those doors too and the only child lock my DD can't get through with those handles is a baby gate placed right under the handle.  She isn't tall enough to pull up on the lever to open it.  I have tried the ones that go over the handle an

But can he lift the handle up? As long as he has to lever it down instead of up the baby gate works.
