relieving pressure

My milk came in Mon night. One side is making more than it needs to and is almost always hard and sore, no infection yet. Am I just encouraging it to make more by pumping to relieve a little pressure on the feedings when DS has the other side? Is this a no no? Just leave it alone and let it regulate itself?

I would take ibuprofen and put heat on it if it is sore. If that doesn't help, I might hand express a tiny bit of milk until I felt comfortable. Pumping a little would be my last option.
