"Mommy"

MIL has been coming during the day to help me out. With A being so fussy and irritated the past few days its been a big help to have someone else around. She will also be A's babysitter when I go back to work.

I am really grateful for the help but I am a bit hurt/annoyed that MIL has been slipping up and referring to herself as Mommy when talking to A. She's done this several times in my presence and then immediately says Grandma to correct herself.

I told DH that it bothered me and he told me that she did this the first day at the hospital while I was asleep. He told her to never do that in front of me.

Should I politely tell her that it upsets me and ask her to be careful not to do it? Or should I just let it go for now?

  • I'd be pissed, though it sounds like something my mom would do too. I've been having to deal with my mom thinking she can just show up whenever she wants...even though she lives 9 hours away! And also covering her facebook in pictures of my baby and her h

  • OMG I would freak the F out on her. YOU are her mom, and she is beyond overstepping. Enough said.

  • It was probably a slip up. It is easy to do. I have called myself mommy to my niece and nephew before. I have calledmy parents mommy and daddy to my kids.
