Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Sleeping problems

Ok moms I need advice ASAP!!! My 16 month old has never slept through the night. Ever. And I have tried everything I can think of so I need advice from y'all. We have a bedtime routine but unless I let her stay up until 12 she wakes up every two hours. And sleeping in her crib makes it worse. I Even converted it to a toddler bed hoping that would help. I've tried letting her scream it out but she'll throw herself out of her crib. She screamed for 45 minutes one night straight and still was not sleepy. She takes maybe a one hour nap during the day and that's on a good day. So any suggestions? Anyone else survive this?

Re: Sleeping problems

  • Is she always awake when she cries in the middle of the night?  The reason I ask is because around 15/16 months my daughter went through a battle with night terrors.  She would scream around midnight and again around 3.  She wasn't awake

  • What time does she go to bed? Also maybe the 1 nap isn't enough. I've found that if L is over tired he sleeps worse at night. So if he doesn't nap well or he goes to bed too late, he actually wakes up more. Mine is 13 months and doesn't STTN either but he

  • Sounds like she's overtired. My LO sleeps like utter crap when overtired and has a harder time falling/staying asleep.  The average 16m old needs about 2+hrs of naptime and 11-12 hours of nighttime sleep.

My LO will still occasionally take

  • FWIW LO sleeps through the night...he always goes to bed at 7:30...he may nto fall asleep at 7:30, but he's in bed then. He also consistently takes a nap in the vicinity of 12:30 and will nap 2-3 hours.
