Er ... Advice

Ugh. I posted yesterday with the constipation problem since its been two weeks since ive had a bowel movement at all, I called my dr twice today to try and get some help and she did nothing... Basically told me to keep taking stool softeners and laxative. I even told her I thought I was actually sick from it, and I can't eat at all. My question is, should I go to the hospital? I'm in so much pain.... Cramps are so bad and I can't even stand up without having to go, but when I try it just hurts tooooo much for me so I stop!! I'm freaking out, I'm so miserable. Idk what to do.

Re: Er ... Advice

  • Is your Dr. connected to the hospital? If your dr. Is connected make sure you tell them you are his/her patient so they page them. I would say go. It is better to be safe than sorry. If you don't go to ER I would definitely do an urgent care tomorrow. Th

  • Try an enema. DH will most likely have to help you but you will get relief within 5 minutes! It's really gross but it sounds like your only choice because that is what they will most likely do at the hospital too.
  • Maybe the hospital can give you suppositories? And once you are going again, double up on the fruit, juices, and water.  Even if you are not thirsty/hungry.  If I do even one less fruit per day it affects me.  Sad.

  • Definitely go to the er. You could have an impaction. If severe enough your intestines could explode or a part can become ischemic.

  • Yes, it's getting to be too much and you can get toxins in your blood and they can get to the baby. Go to the hospital, get an enema. If your dr isn't taking you seriously, you need to find someone who does.

Have you tried a hydroglicerine supposetory yet? When I was pregnant with DS I had horrible constipation and was laying on the bathroom floor in tears an sweating profusely. My MIL works in a doctor's office and brought me suppositories. I had to use 2 of

  • Since you've been taking laxatives and softeners and nothing is happening, I'd be worried about an impaction. You should go to the hospital. Two weeks is too long.
