DD had her DARE graduation today and I was there, not only to watch and take pictures, but also volunteering closing out a fundraising project I had been working on. H was called out to work last night so I had the ever so cooperative 2 year old by my side as well. Since today was the last day before spring break and not much was going on, I told DD I would just take her out early and to run and grab her back pack. The cafeteria was chaos, but her teachers had seen me there taking pictures and such. Anyway, as I was walking to sign her out, the DARE officer stopped to talk to me about DD and say how well she did, etc. and it just went out of my head to sign her out. I did pop my head in the office, DD in tow with her back pack, to say I was leaving but to make sure the fundraising dude got his envelope.
Fast forward thirty minutes, me running errands, my half asleep H is calling me to ask if I have DD with me becauset his Capt. just called worried to death because the school called, not being able to reach either of us (him sleeping and my phone on silent because of the graduation). I called the school to apologize profusely and am told to please meet the school police who have been dispatched and are en route to my house.
Mother of the year, right here folks. Seriously. I am such a moron.
