Hi Ladies,
For those of you who made the decision to have/not have another baby after having a preemie, how did you decide?
I've always known that I wanted two children and envision my family being complete with 2. DD is my first and was born unexpectedly and emergently at 27 weeks exactly due to severe pre-e. She did amazingly well and after spending 79 days in the NICU, came home with no residual issues. She is catching up and is amazing.
MFM originally gave me a 50% chance of developing pre-e again with it being equally likely at 24 weeks or 38 weeks. Then I was found to have MTHFR and Factor II gene mutation, both of which cause clotting disorders and MFM believes caused the pre-e to happen so early (there was a clot in the placenta). If I was pregnant again I'd be on daily lovenox injections which she believes would prevent the pre-e from coming as early and she changed my percentages to 30-50%.
I know that no one can make the decision for me. I guess I'm just wondering how other people decided. Did you just trust that things would be OK? Did you decide not to do it again? Thanks
Re: How did you decide to have another?
Sorry, I don't have answers for you but just wanted to say that I am in the same boat. My twins are former 27 weekers and are now 19 mths. DD had a pretty smooth ride (came home after 70 days and no major issues), but DS had a lot of complications and
I am not familiar with any of the factors you are dealing with, so I don't have advice regarding that. I will just tell you what happened with me. For us we have always wanted 2 kids. When DS was born unexpectedly at 26 weeks (due to PROM), I seriously
My daughter was born at 25w0d after a month of bedrest, 3 weeks of which were strict hospital bedrest. We are fortunate in some ways that it was very clear that her early delivery was most definitely caused by an incompetent cervix. &nb

DS was born at 33 wks with no warning signs whatsoever. We deciced to have another because my Dr said I have a very low chance of going into preterm labor again but at 28 weeks I went into PTL again. They were able to stop it and I have been on bedrest
I don't have experience with Pre-E. My issue is IC which is more clear cut. I'm currently 16w pregnant with #2. Making the decision to have another was extremely hard. Some days I can't believe we are doing this again. Ult
