Insurance gripe

Blah. I just called my insurance company to see if they will cover a breast pump and if so, what kind. They will only cover a manual pump. Any electronic pump requires a letter of medical necessity.

A manual pump isn't going to do much for me when I'll be pumping at work several times a day

Can your dr write you a note? If you need a pump to successfully bf that seems like a medical necessity

all you have to do is call your OB. 

I got a script written and a letter and have a medela double pump in style advance

Maybe your pediatrician can write something along with your OB and say it is medically necessary for the baby to have breast milk.

Each insurance plan can vary- a lot. Your plan may have grandfathered status, which means they do not have to comply with a lot of the new regulations until a later date. Also, the "free breast pump" regulations are not black & white. Insurers don't h
