Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

1-year old not walking yet

My son will not walk. We try to have him stand, and he seems to be slowly wanting to bear weight on his legs. He doesn't seem to want to crawl either. I am giving him plenty of tummy time as well. Any of you had this happen with your child? Is there anything I can do to give him a boost?

Thanks!

  • I haven't pass trough this, but I know every child is different and develops at their own pace, don't stress to much, and keep encouraging him, but if you are concern about this I think you should talk to your pediatrician for some advise!, be patient and

  • My daughter didn't start pulling herself up to standing until the week after she turned 1, and she still is not walking (though she is now cruising along the edges of the furniture).

I was a little worried, but she was meeting or exceeding all o

Should be fine.  Plenty of kids don't walk until after a year.  Normal range is up to 18 months I think.<b

  • My DD is over 14m and still not walking.  Daycare is concerned.  I'm not.  We'll talk to the pedi in two weeks and see what they say, but like other posters have said, there's a range and there are a lot of other skills your child is probab

  • DD just took her first unassisted steps last week. She is 13 1/2 months old. I wouldn't worry yet. As a PP said, I think pediatrician's start to worry when a child hasn't walked by 18 months.

  • At 1 my child wasn't walking, but my pediatrician was only considered with whether he was physically able to bear weight on his legs (which he could).  My doctor said that walking isn't just about ability, but confidence.  Some kids walk early,

  • It should not be a concern at 1 year. The normal range for walking is 9 months-18 months. If they hit 18 months and no walking then you should worry. My son just started walking about 2 weeks ago at 17 months. His issue was all confidence he knew how to d

  • Almost 14 months old and NO interest in walking.  He can get wherever he wants by crawling and he's fine with that.  Don't rush it.  When they start walking the game changes AGAIN.
  • Let him do things at his own pace. My LO didn't walk until 15 months and he is perfectly healthy and great.

  • I wouldn't worry about it...every baby is different.  My 15 month old only just now started walking.  She was late to crawl too.     I know it can make you nervous when you see 10 and 11 month olds walking...but he'll get the
