Growth spurt...when? Helmet related

DS is in a helmet and has been for almost 4 months. At our last orthotist appointment 3 weeks ago we were given the option to stop the helmet then, or give it another 3 weeks to see if we catch an 8 month growth spurt. We hadn't been seeing much more improvement in his CI numbers the past few visits so we figured why not. He's already been in it 3 months, we'll keep him in it another few weeks. Well today his CI number STILL hasn't changed. Granted it's gone down about 10 since we started the helmet and his head looks way better but he's still at like a 95. I figure ok, this is just how his head will be which is one because honestly right now no one would even notice...but then she says, Well we can give it another few weeks to see if we can catch a 9 month growth spurt.

Is there such a thing?! I'm going to be really ticked if we keep up with this helmet ANOTHER 3 to 4 weeks to find out his CI is still at a 95. I don't want to drag this out and have him get used to wearing it now as he's learning to crawl and smacking his head into things and thinking it doesn't hurt when he'll have to unlearn all that when we stop the helmet in a few weeks if it's not making any difference anyway. We decided that regardless of numbers, we are stopping the helmet after his next appt in 3.5 weeks at which point he'll be almost 9.5 months old.

Sorry so long, but seriously, when do these growth spurts supposedly hit around this age?

  • Our son was in a docband for 6 months (from 4 months to 10 months old) and the first one was definitely the one that made the difference as he didn't experience a growth spurt (at least not with his head measurements) during the last 2 months.  Progr

  • My LO is not in a helmet, however, with relation to a growth spurt, we went in for his 9 month checkup and he went from being in the 50th percentile to 25th percentile in both weight and height and the doctor told us that this is often the case during 9 m
