Lurking with a postpartum question. My best friend is getting married May 18th, I am due April 24th. I couldn't imagine missing her wedding.
That being said, am I really going to be up for a wedding 3 weeks postpartum? Never mind if baby is a week or two late. If I do go, I would imagine that I would just attend the ceremony and a bit of the reception (they are at the same venue, about 30 minutes from my home). We would probably leave after dinner. But we would have to leave baby at home with my mom. That means at least 6 hours away from baby (I'm anxious just thinking about it!).
I want to reply "Attending" and see what happens, but I'm also sensitive to the fact that she will have to pay for my (and DH's) dinners and I would feel terrible if our seats were paid for and we end up being a no-show.
Ok experienced mommies: WWYD? TIA for any advice.
Re: Help! Postpartum question
How much you feel 'up to going' will totally depend which stinks because you won't know until after you have the baby!
I had a really rough delivery with my first and was a wreck a

I'm actually 3 weeks pp this week and I would go. I had a c-section and can get around well, but not everyone feels the same and as someone else said, each delivery is different so who knows on that front.
I know I could handle being away

If it's your best friend then I would suggest at least trying to go. You never know what you'll be up for at that time and I'm guessing your friend would rather you leave early and be out the money for dinner than to think that you didn't make th

Oh boy I don't know. I think I would have been ok physically (pain wise) but I had a lot of urinary incontinence so that might not have been fun at a wedding. I think it might be harder emotionally. I had surgery 3 weeks pp and had to leave

I think I have a plan, based on your opinions. I think I'll call her to let her know I'll be responding as "Not Attending" but if all is well I will definitely go to the ceremony. That way I won't be afraid

I went to a wedding 5 weeks post-partum (c-section). My Mom stayed with G at our house and thankfully the wedding was just 15 minutes from us. I did go breastfeed him in between the ceremony and reception, but we made it work and we had a good time. I

Hey Penny,
as you know I delivered 9d late and now have a 9d old and have the biggest exams of my life coming up when baby is 3 weeks old. I will be gone 6h each day and am fairly stressed about it. I am also still exhausted. I know I would
Personally, by that time I would probably have been excited to get away for an evening. DH and I went on an overnight, out-of-town trip when DS was about 8 weeks and left him with the in-laws. I did miss him, but it was also good to get away
