Hello! I'm totally new to this board and honestly haven't even done much lurking yet. I've been married for almost two years and DH and I just started seriously thinking about having a baby. I am excited, but a little freaked out. We both are working now and I am not sure if I would keep working after having kids. However, I am worried about working while pregnant. I work in a heavy industrial setting (think steel mill). I am freaked out about getting pregnant and having to be in the plant. The floors/stairs are very uneven, the air pollutants are bad and there are lots of other safety hazards in the plant. I don't think I should be taking a fetus into a place that requires me to wear steel toe boots, a hard hat and flame retardant clothing... But then what do I do- quit once I am pregnant? I would want to keep working at least until the baby came. I think that my employeer would work with me (my boss is a female and fairly understanding) but I'm not 100% sure. I would basically have to refuse go into the plant while I was pregnant. I do work in an office most of the time, but a large part of my job requires me to be in the plant.
Has anyone else had concerns about their work situtation while being pregnant?
Re: New Here
Is there anything in your job description that specifies the specific physical tasks or exposure level to environmental pollutants required of your position? I would take a look at what your PD specifies as the minimum qualifications and talk wit
