Thin Lining- 5mm

After 3 rounds of Clomid my RE switched me to Femara to see if that helped my thin lining issue. Well, the first cycle on Femara my lining was 6mm (BFN) and this cycle it was only 5mm (the thinnest it has ever been CD12). They almost canceled my IUI because my lining was so thin (which was such a bummer because I have 2 good eggs this round), but decided to go ahead with it anyway. Has anyone heard of success stories with a lining that thin?

I'm so frustrated- I feel like we're just flushing money down the toilet! Has anyone else had issues with a thin lining? What have you done to help? My RE has me take progesterone suppositories (which I will start tomorrow)... I'm also going to start acupuncture treatments to see if that helps... The nurse said I may have to switch to injectables next, but my RE wasn't so sure that was a good choice for me since I have borderline PCOS. So confused- don't know what to do! Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Re: Thin Lining- 5mm

  • I had cd12 ultrasounds show 4mm and 6mm linings. My RE said that it was ok because it will continue to thicken until ovulation, which for me isn't until cd16 or 17. He also said they shoot for a minimum of 8mm at ovulation. Also, at my last appt I brought

Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015.
RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal.
    IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur.
ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

  • Progesterone stabilizes lining but won't really thicken it. To thicken your lining my RE starts with estrogen patches and suppositories. That usually helps for most women. Baby aspirin too.
